    Munni V. Subramanian

    Background: Born and raised in Fiji but moved around a lot to various parts of the

    world. Taught in Preschool, Elementary Schools and High schools in Fiji and Hawaii.

    Taught ESL at BYU, Hawaii. Implemented ESL program at Benemerito De Las Americas

    in Mexico City. Taught ESL and Adult Ed. at Australian Language Center in Fairfield,

    Australia.

    Education: Diploma in Elementary Education from Fiji. B.A in Tesol and A.A in Early

    Childhood Ed. from BYU, Hawaii. M.A in Adult Ed and M.P.C. in Professional

    Communication from Western Sydney University, Australia.

     

    Dorothy T. Wheeler

    Background: Born in New York City, raised in New York and Connecticut. Lived in

    Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, India, Korea, Japan, Turkey, and Central Asia. Traveled in

    Europe, Canada, and Latin America. Taught ESL at the University of Hawaii at Manoa,

    Kapiolani Community College, TransPacific Hawaii College, Hawaii Pacific University,

    Roosevelt High School (Honolulu), the Continental School (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia), and

    the Saudi Arabian International School-British Dutch Section ('Jeddah Prep') (Jeddah,

    Saudi Arabia)

    Education: MA in ESL, 2002, University of Hawaii at Manoa; BA in Liberal Studies,

    emphasis in ESL, 1997, University of Hawaii at Manoa.

     

     

    Sherene Ariffin

    Background: Born and raised in Singapore. Speak English, Mandarin, Bahasa

    Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia. Special interests are sociolinguistics, reading and

    writing, effects of culture on language learners.

    Education: Graduated with a BSc. in Banking and Finance (Hons) from University of

    London, lead college London School of Economics. Currently working on her MA in

    Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESL) at Hawaiˇ®i Pacific University.

     

    Larke A. Golaski

    Background: Born and raised in the US. Lived abroad for 10 years and taught

    English in Taiwan. Thailand and Laos. Worked as an English-language

    instructor at Krirk Business College in Bangkok and for USAID and Lao

    Airlines in Vientiane, Laos, as well as for the International Business

    program of IMPAC. Developed a glossary of public health, social work and

    nursing terms to be used to train community health workers.

    Education: B.A., 1981 University of Hawaii; ESL teaching certificate, 1969

    USIS, Taipei; DOD language program .1985

     

    Britton Brooks

    Background: Born in California and raised in Hawaii. Traveled to the United Kingdom,

    Europe, Japan, and Egypt. Taught 5-9 year olds in Seattle. Assisted in Cultural and

    linguistic immersion for Korean and Japanese students in Hawaii.

    Education: B.A. 2005, English, UH Manoa.

     

    Hsuan-Fan Yen

    Background: Born and raised in Taiwan. Taught English to international students at

    Hawaii Pacific University and Central Middle School in Hawaii. Speak English, Mandarin

    Chinese and Taiwanese.

    Education: M.A. TESL and BSBA, 2004, Hawaii Pacific University. Master of Art, 2004,

    Teaching English as a Second Language. B.S., 1999, Business Administration.

     

    Anne Combs

    Background: Born in Ohio and has lived in Hawaii for many years. Taught TOEFL and

    worked with children ranging in age from 4 to high school. Prepared students for taking

    standardized exams such as the SAT.

    Education: B.A., 2004, Childhood Education, University of Hawaii at Manoa; Currently

    pursuing a master's degree in social work at UH Manoa.

     

    Dennis Lear

    Background: Taught ESL/FL in Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and the U.S. at both

    private and public schools. Taught at the college level in the U.S.

    Education: B.S., 1979, Business Administration, Central Michigan University; Graduate

    Certificate in Education, 1990, Central Connecticut University; Cambridge/RAS CELTA

    Certification, 1999, Center for English Studies.

     

    Douglas H. Luciani

    Background: Born in Boston, Massachusetts. Lived in various places around the

    United States while growing up in the Navy. Taught EFL in Thailand and Taiwan.

    Worked as an English instructor at Hawaii Pacific University.

     

    Education: M.B.A., 1998, University of Hawaii at Manoa; TESL Certificate, 1992, Hawaii

    Pacific University; B.A., Political Science, 1978, Northeastern University.

     

    Murray Cohen

    Background: Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Taught ESL as a visiting teacher in the public

    school system in Copenhagen, Denmark. Later taught English conversation and

    composition at Han Yang University in Seoul, Korea.

    Education: B.A., Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa.

     

    Kim, Hae Rim

    Background: Born in Korea. Counselor/Instructor in Nesscap, Inc., Developed and

    implemented an self-enhancement training program in Nesscap, Inc.

    Education: Enrolled in PhD. Program(Psychology), MA in Psychology, Harvard

    University, Cambridge, MA

     

     

    Kwan Jay Cho, PhD.

    Background: Born in Korea. Taught Management/ Statistics at Busan Women

    University. President of the Advisory Council for Peaceful Unification of Korea. Visiting

    Scholar at Dankook University and University of Hawaii. Worked as researcher at Dong

    A University in Korea.

    Education: M.A., 1986, Central Michigan University for MA. Ph.D. in Management

    Education, 1991, University of Southern California. L.A., California
